F.A.Q.s

When is the camp?

IC 2010: Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 15th August 2010

What is the theme for this year?

The theme for IC 2010 is: FRUIT

How much is it?

The camp fee in 2010 is £399 per person. The price includes all activities, tented accommodation and main meals

Do I need a sleeping bag?

You will need to bring a sleeping bag - a warm one as the summer nights can be cool in England. We provide a groundsheet and mattress.

Where will I be sleeping?

Participants sleep in tents shared with up to 6 other people. You will probably be sharing with young people from other countries.

Will I be in an all male/female tent?

Yes - all young people in a tent are of the same sex.

Can I be in the same village and tent as my friends?

If you are coming as an individual with one or two friends we will make sure you are all in the village, and probably in the same tent. If you are part of a large group then we ask leaders to split the group across the villages, with pairs or trios of friends in each village.

Is it OK to come on my own?

Yes - we have lots of young people who come to the camp on their own but go home with lots of friends. At the start of camp we make sure all the young people get to know new people in their village so they don't feel alone during their stay.

What will we be doing?

See the Programme Overview for an outline of what happens on the camp. Each year we have a theme and some activities will be linked to this.

What do I need to bring?

Just your usual clothes and toiletries for a two-week trip away plus a warm sleeping bag. We sometimes have themed events at the camp and will let you know about these before so you can bring things with you. When we have your booking you will receive updates on the programme and what to bring as we have them.

How do I get to the camp?

If you are travelling in an organised group we can help arrange coach transport from your arrival port/station.

If you are travelling on your own or with friends we can help with transport from Colchester, our nearest town. We can often link you up with other individuals arriving at the same port or station.

Contact us for more details and view a detailed map.

By air
Our nearest airport is London Stansted. There are regular coaches from the airport to our nearest town (Colchester) and we can arrange transport from there.
If you are flying into Heathrow, Gatwick or another airport you would need to travel into London and then get the train to Colchester.

By ferry
The nearest port is Harwich. We can help arrange transport from there. If you arrive at Dover or Folkestone then you will need to travel into London before getting the train to Colchester.

By Eurostar
If travelling as an individual you need to get the train to London Kings Cross. Travel across London to Liverpool Street for a train to Colchester.

By train
The nearest station is Colchester. Trains regularly run from London Liverpool Street (50 minutes). We can help arrange transport from the station.
